Beauty Reading a Letter
Tōensai Kanshi (Japanese, active c. 1751–72), c. 1751–72.

Using it on a cover
The print file prints up to 2.2 x 11.3 in at 300 ppi — fine for smaller trims or inset artwork, but too small to fill a 6 x 9 in cover at 300 ppi. Taller than a 6 x 9 cover: crop about 71% of the height.
About the work
A woman sits reading a letter. She has taken her right arm out of her sleeve and presses her hand against her pulse as if to still her excitement at the contents of the missive. Another woman’s silhouette is visible behind her through sliding paper doors. She spies on the first woman by peering through a tear in the paper.
